View Full Version : So what was the deal with Kevin James and Adam Sandler?

3 out of 10 Aled? and "A point because they behaved professionally when they got in the studio"
What happened?, I'm a little surprised if something was wrong especially with Kevin James, he always comes over as a great guy.
Don't suppose you'd give us forumers a little insight before tomorrows show?

The reason was kinda stated on the show, although a lot of people would have easily missed it.

Care to elaborate Console?
I'm at work during the show so I can't always concentrate 100% on what's being said because people come in and out to see me.

I really shouldn't elaborate as it's a personal thing, I'll leave that for Aled to do, either on or off the show.
There'll be a blog later today

I'm intrigued (nosey).

Has anything been said about this?, I'm still at a loss as to what the problem was.
Is it something to do with the content of the film being anti gay marriage or something? (just guessing as I haven't seen the film)

Where was the blog Aled?!
Oh Blinkie, you really should have learnt by now! When Aled says tonight, he really means tomorrow or the day after. When he says tomorrow, he means the weekend, or when he says the weekend, he means at least 10 days!

men have their own time zone and aled has his own completely different time zone... ;)

I must say that was a great blog, really explained the whole thing brilliantly. Glad to see Aled is as reliable as ever, it's comforting to know that some things never change.

Why's that then? Has she got them new false teeth she's been after finally? I hate how the NHS treat the over 80's.
I know, its disgusting. All that tax I pay is going towards her much needed dental treatment. Old people should just be 'put to sleep' when they reach 60/become extremely annoying, or whichever is sooner.

Well perhaps he might not want to tell as fear of it getting blown out of proportion (just a guess)
Which would be fair enough. But why say you'd do something(and specify a time in which you'd do it) and then not do it at all and never refer to it again?

I'm with Kate I'm afraid, If you don't want to talk about something, don't reference it on national radio and then later say you'll post a blog and just not bother.
Besides if Aled has a strong opinion on something he shouldn't be worried about expressing it, he might be able to make other consider a different point of view.

Im going to assume its something to do with the movie that Sandler and James were promoting. From the clips ive seen of it, it doesnt strike me as one that a man of Aled's sexuality would find particularly appealing.
As for his lack of comment, i suspect they discussed it behind the scenes and decided it was best not to say.

I assumed it was something to do with adam sandler as good as telling aled to get over the fact he got his name wrong. at least it came over that way upon listening to the podcast....
I'm afraid it's to do with the film. I was pretty offended at how they portrayed gay people and how the film was horrendously clumsey in how it dealt with the matters at hand.
I would happily have my say on the show and in blogs about my true feelings about it, but unfortunately it's not always that easy and in the end it's a political world we live in and I had to swallow my personal feelings and be professional when the time calls for it.
I assumed I'd write about it in a blog, but again I was advised that it may not have been wise as people close to me could get hurt professionally so I swallowed my views.
Lets just hope the film bombs. I ask that you don't see it.

Fair enough Aled, thanks for letting us know.
I was advised that it may not have been wise as people close to me could get hurt professionally so I swallowed my views.
Well my view is that anyone that would try to have a negative impact on you or those close to you because you have an opinion on something that is obviously close to home for you is a dick, that being said I understand where you're coming from and thanks for clearing it up for us.

I must admit i have no interest in going to see this film and i prob think it will upset alot more than just aled
it probably will bomb as clips don't even look that funny to start with

Aled, you'll be happy to know it did NOT do well here in the States (money wise). My friends wanted to go see it but I convinced them to come out for some beers instead :) and I like Adam Sandler. It just looked condescending. I appreciate your views and I think it's great you gave them 3 out of 10 for the content. Our beliefs are what make us who we are!
I don't know anyone that's seen this. That's a first.

Well judging by the critics in the papers its not getting a good review infact quite a poor one (what a shame ha)
It's getting a much deserved kicking which is nice.
As for not doing well in America it got to number 1! Now THAT'S depressing
i am going to america on friday. i shall refuse to see it out there too...

Nic, I don't think it's still playing here, so no worries!

Apparently they showed the film to some American gay rights group before its release and they approved of it, so it can't be that bad can it?
ah cool sunny so cal. i shall have to find another movie to watch at the drive in, last time i went i fell asleep on the ground in my sleeping bag and nearly got run over :icon_rolleyes:

i'd love to go to a drive in, pitty we dont have them over here :( but i suppose its an 'american' thing :)
About the movie, it doesnt look that funny to me, i bet all the 'good bits' are the ones shown on the adverts.

Is joining the BBC similar to joining a cult? It sounds like you have to sell your soul when you do it, becoming unable to express certain personal opinions or views for the good of the organisation.
There was a girl on Edith's show just there, claiming she was a lebian, yet wasnt offended by it. She said the humour made up for it, and overall, was a wicked film.

I understand some people could be offended by the film but there are lots of different films that judge different categories of people and if it's light hearted jest (i haven't seen this particular film) then i don't see the harm. No-one leaves a film taking on a whole new set of beliefs and change their view points on serious issues.

(1) From what I heard the jokes were juvenile. It was briefly #1 in the box office but there was nothing good out at the time.
(2) you aren't missing much by not experiencing a drive-in. It's like a mistake that for some strange reason perpetuated. Sorry about nearly being run-down the last time you experienced one, though!! I think that's why it's called a DRIVE-IN
lol it was my fault really. drive ins are fun, but not when your car won't start. that happened another time i went too. hehe.

OMG Nic, that's some serious back luck w/drive-ins! Maybe you should NEVER attempt it again lol?
haha i do like them though. only problem is if you don't like the movie it is somewhat harder to leave.

At least there was pretty much a summary of Aleds views about this film on the show today :) thanks to Billie (recon she is a regular here and wanted to know the real story? :p - joke!)
I was just about to post pretty much exactly the same thing Jimmy. I don't know whether you should be more scared of thinking like me, or vice versa.
Either way, it was good to rather belatedly get an idea of why Aled disliked the film so much and that it was done in a non serious manner. The discussion made me laugh, but at the same time Aled made his point very clear.
On a slightly separate note, I don't know if it was just because I was in a particularly good mood this morning, but I actually enjoyed listening to an interview and that's very unusual for me. Billie came across well, and she managed to succeed in completing most of her challenge on 'This Morning' too.

I actually enjoyed listening to an interview
OMG!!! OMG!!!! - Quick...someone put that on a TV shirt or something.......OMG!
I'd prefer to have it written on the top of a big chocolate cake.
Nice! Katie enjoyed and interview!
They're not showing the film in my local cinema. Which show every film...
hooo,i'd love to go to a drive in, pitty we dont have them over here .
