Has anyone else watched the first season of Dexter? (currently shown on FX in the UK I think). I really enjoyed the show, I never got in to six feet under but Micheal C Hall is great in this.
For those that don't know Dexter is about a guy that works as a forensic blood splatter expert for the Miami PD, however he is also a serial killer who lives by a code that he only kills other killers (something taught to him by his stepfather to "keep him safe"). Dexter finds himself tracking a serial killer who drains the blood bodies of his victims before leaving them to be found, the killer seems to be trying to communicate with Dexter, which leads to Dexter becoming obsessed with finding out why. I won't go into too much more detail than that as that would reveal more of the plot, but it's a VERY good show.
It's based on the book Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay.

Have you read the book? It's quite good, I wouldn't say it's better than the show, but I think it's just as good, and it's quite funny in places.
The second season starts soon. I watched the pre-releases of the first two episodes and it has definitely strayed from the second book, although there are similarities, but it does look like it's going to be another fantastic season.

I haven't read the book, but it's on my list of things to read. I know there are some major differences with the first season and the book and the plot of the second season apparently isn't based on either book at all.
I know it starts on Sept 30th, are the pre release episodes good quality (unlike the Prison Break ones that used to crop up from time to time)?

Oh yeah, absolutely huge differences, although the overall plot of the first season is very similar, but most of the Rita stuff, and the Ice Truck Killer stuff is very different. I think the first episode is the closest to the book, but after that it almost takes a completely different course. Still, they're both great and it's well worth reading the books, especially as the series isn't going to be based on them.

Yeah, they're off of the DVD's given to the press for reviews.

I'll check them out then.
Between Dexter, Heroes and Prison break there's some good TV coming up right now

Smallville (if you watch it; I only started watching it 2 months ago) is also back soon in what should be a 'powerful' opener.

Never got into that one either, there's just too much to watch these days, I'm still just going through the first season of House on Five US (with seasons 2 and 3 ready to go on DVD once that's done) and at some point I really need to watch through The Sopranos too.
Add into this Lost and 24 will be back soon and there's just not enough time for it all.
I'm surprised smallville is still going though, shouldn't Clark have moved to Metropolis and met Lois by now?

He's met Lois, in Smallville, and he's still in college I think. Besides, they're not strictly following the backstory of Superman.

Oh it is, season 2 is almost done now (only 2 left) and it's been the best thing on TV for me lately.
Very dark, but a great show.

The last two episodes are actually available now. It's actually quite amusing how some of the smaller details of the show are very close to their counterparts in the book, despite the second season not really being based on the book (it's a different plot line entirely).
