View Full Version : Are you happy?
A quick poll on one straightforward question. Are you happy with your life (weighing up all of the various aspects of it) at this moment in time, or not? I'm going to say no.

Well i was going to say undecided but no will do for me at the mo
with the situation in my job not getting better which is having an impact on my savings its not a great time although the lie in is great
I said yes. There are of course things that I would like to improve in my life, but overall I think its good. There have been many times when i'd definately have said no, but whats the point of living in the past?
Im rather chuffed with my life at the minute. I dont like being unhappy, or unhappy people. They spread negative energy.
I'm happy at the moment - schools going good, I'm managing to save up my money, Moyles is back soon at an earlier time which means more to listen again to :p. Havent got any huge problems that I know of and I'm looking forward to christmas even though its ages away - as soon as the schools heating comes on (1st October) it shows its almost winter therefore almost christmas :p - cant wait :D
ild have to go with no not happy

Personally I think there's a difference between being happy with the majority of things in your life, and being fundamentally happy as a person. I'm very content with my work life, friendships, financial situation etc. yet I still wouldn't say I'm 'happy'.
Being happy is different for everyone. Being content with my 'work' life, friendship, financial situation would generally make me happy. Im easily pleased.

I'm happy. Although I know I could be happier. Still, what is happy.....? Profound.....:icon_razz:
I've been pretty happy for the last few months :| I think someone's slipping something into my tea.

Thanks to my (largely unique) outlook on life I'm very rarely unhappy; I can't actually remember being unhappy in the past decade (there may have been a day here-and-there, but none that I can recall).

Yes and no. If you had asked me two months ago I'd have said yes.
Now, there are some things that make me very happy and some that are just downright depressing. So, I'm not really sure which to pick.

i said yes cos i'm a happy person but if i was to step back and look at everything in my life that i don't have control, over, all the external factors then i would probably get all upset and say no...

although i am happy that i met chris moyles again and spoke to his dad about work lol
I have a firm belief that certain people seem to be genetically predisposed towards being happy with themselves and life in general, and certain others are more likely to feel unhappy.
There were a few of the 4 and 5 year old kids who I taught last year who I can honestly say were never (whilst in school anyway) anything other than smiley, happy, and in good form. They'd come in the door every morning with big smiles on their faces and go home the same way. Then there's also a group of children who always seem to look dour, miserable, and fed up with everything.
Assuming that in the majority of cases this isn't because those children are having an awful life, then it would suggest to me that the differences between the two different groups may be partly genetic, and that they will continue to be more inclined to be either happy or unhappy throughout their lives, whatever their circumstances might be.
Personally I'd definitely put myself in the dour and miserable camp. I'd class myself as a pessimist, as I tend to see things in a negative light when I could just as easily view them as being positive. One of the songs I'd consider having played at my funeral is 'The Pessimist is never disappointed'. I like it because the sentiment of the title is very logical and difficult to argue with, and also because I think the line 'this is the highlight of your miserable life' would be fittingly depressing to play at a funeral. Now excuse me whilst I go and slit my wrists before bed :p

I find myself agreeing with another of Kate's posts. With bratlets, I wonder if diet has any impact on behaviour, or even if the household is smoking or non smoking?
As for me, I find people who are always happy a bit strange as I don't understand how you can go through life feeling optimistic all the time. I always expect the worst, therefore everything else is a bonus.
'The Pessimist is never disappointed' kin right on sister!

That's me in a nutshell, Sinister!! I've tried being happy-happy all the time and inevitably reality strikes. If you're happy-happy all the time it's almost as if you're dodging reality. My husband is the eternal optimist. Drives me mad........

Ick. *Hugs*
I really wish there was an in-between option, but I guess that would render the poll useless because most users would choose that. Meh.

I think it's very unlikely that you'll win the lottery tomorrow, they only do the draw on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Well, for a starters, I don't watch TV, but even when I did I wouldn't pay attention to them. If there was ever a time when watching adverts was better than watching a show, I wouldn't watch anything.
