Hmm, I've just seen all of them from today and yesterday - the Aleds mum one was good - she was ironing at that time of the morning, I'll class that as extreme ironing ;) I may send in a video, I'm just planning ;)
edit: how about 'I listen to the show whilst browsing the best website currently available - Aled.info!'

please do post in your vids, it'll take a while for the videos to catch on with the public as a whole so you'll have a high chance of getting on there

Nice one postie!, I was going to try and download the clip, and then rotate it for you but then thought that perhaps it would have more chance of getting mentioned on the radio - 'check out our video pages whereby some people have decided to film themselves whilst being on their sides' or something along those lines, heres hoping that it gets picked :)

Hey GBM that's brilliant! I actually don't get involved which ones go on - but I'm not sure they'll allow that to go on - otherwise they'll asume I had something to do with it!

Bril vid though

I think I've missed the point of this slightly. I can understand the videos from the team and their loved ones (after all, that's why most of us tune in; to hear the stories of the people we feel we know), but I don't see the point of the listeners sending in videos. Perhaps it's just me, but I don't really care what other people are doing while listening.

tamba

Some of them are far too long as well, i have only watched the short version's that have been sent in.

Perhaps it's just me, but I don't really care what other people are doing while listening.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. I've enjoyed watching the videos of the team and their families, but I haven't watched any of the listeners' ones. The reason for that is because I couldn't care less what people are doing when they're listening to the show.

If I wanted to then I could easily imagine someone driving a truck, sitting in an office, or climbing up a crane whilst listening to the show, but I can't see why I would ever want to do this. I find it hard enough feigning an interest in the lives of the people I actually know a lot of the time, and I really have absolutely no interest in those of strangers. Therefore I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to watch videos of strangers doing whatever it is they do whilst listening to the radio. I just can't see what the point of the whole idea is.

funny you should say that i have my new action cam to use when i go skiing but unfortunately as for hearing the show i don't think my radio will pick it up in Austria unless i do one where I'm listening to the podcast while skiing

Just use the podcast - but part of the podcast which is from the proper show rather than a podcast bit - no-one will be none the wiser

and thanks Aled :), I believe mine won't be accepted because it seems to be only ones who have used their youtube account once for that video.

As long as the camera isnt looking at the patient, picking up their voice or looking at thier notes I think it would be fine in theory - you could just film your face?

i think the whole point is that cris and all wants to see what his listnters get up to tho there are a few people just being stuid and doing stuff like videoing themselfs in there boxers just to be shown

im going to be doing one but it will take me a few days as i am cammara shy and a bit of a perfetionts when it comes to pics or vids of me

So has this feature been scrapped then? I notice on the Radio 1 site that there's only a January page for 'A Year In The Life' and that a proper navigation system for all the videos was never really implemented... or maybe it was and I haven't found it yet!!

No - I know there's still a page of videos there, but it looks like they haven't bothered updating it for a while. Was wondering if it's changed from 'a year in the life' to 'a few weeks in the life'!

No - I know there's still a page of videos there, but it looks like they haven't bothered updating it for a while. Was wondering if it's changed from 'a year in the life' to 'a few weeks in the life'!

Perhaps it's going the same way as their blog feature, which (I think?) was supposed to be a daily blog when it first started, but has now dwindled to 'a few random days of the week/there might well be no new blog for several days or maybe just a video of someone eating a banana' type blog.

I did like how Dom or someone mentioned in one of their latest blog entries that the team had been thinking that they weren't getting many comments on it, and some people replied by saying things such as (direct quote) 'Well if you actually posted something decent and kept it up to date we may post some comments!!!', which made me smile.

I suppose it's easy to be enthusiastic about something initially but more difficult to maintain that same level of enthusiasm over a longer period of time, and because of that things such as the blogs and 'A Year in the Life' can suffer and become a bit neglected.

Maybe people at R1 need to pay more attention to the sentiments behind certain old sayings, such as if something's worth doing then do it properly, and always finish what you've started.
