View Full Version : Listening to the show.
How do you listen to the show? Computer? On the Radio? On your mobile? On your TV? Or do you just listen to the podcast or listen again?
I recently got some headphones for my Nokia phone, so listening to CM on my mobile.

I record the show, from my Freeview box, on my PC which automatically sends it (via an encrypted tunnel) to my work PC. At about ten o'clock I can start listening, skipping over the songs and the news (and birthday corner) and the transfer generally stays ahead of my listening.

I listen to the show on DAB, on my phone and if i'm out early, in the car. Listen again sometimes, and if theres something really good, get the clip from cm.net.

Well I've finally managed to get people to switch from Virgin Radio to Radio 1 in my office, finally! But I only manage to hear from 8.30 until 10, I'm on the tube for the majority of my journey, and can't get bugger all reception down there! But yeah, I listen through the i-player.

What does an encrypted tunnel look like? Sound ominous!

Sorry, tech talk - it's essentially just an encrypted connection between one computer and another that you can send any data through.

Dam!, I was just about to make a joke about it being some sort of tube system that console dug out using spoons between his home and his work which has a loud speaker at one end - the encryption would of course come where the door to the work end has a key, now however that doesnt work but I still wanted to say it! :)
Its interesting to read that people not everyone listens via the radio anymore, furthermore with so many options, it'd be also good to find out where people listen. At work, school, uni, home etc?
I didnt answer earlier, I am sorry - I listen again online most of the time in my study, I do also wake up to the show on my alarm but cant really pay much attention which is why I listen again, I also listened to the radio downstairs this morning as well

I download the show off of listen again, convert it to MP3, and depending on what im doing that day either listen to it on my iPod whilst im out, or spread out over about 12 hours over the rest of the day, skipping most of the music.
its a shame theres no easy way to get the show without songs or to automatically remove songs because I always skip all of the songs and concentrate on the show

Yes and it would probably be better from a legal standpoint :P
Currently I listen vis the following methods:
- Radio
I usually use this when I've only just woke up as my PC speakers are a tad too loud! Plus the bass from my stereo normally wakes me up :)
- PC
I usually and more than normally use my PC to listen to the show. I use the Windows Vista sidebar to listen to the show, which uses a little widget to play the radio stations I preset into it (techy!)
Thanks,
Adz x

well first stop is usually my comp, that doesnt always work so then ill listen on the tv (0101) i dont hear all the show so i usually play catch up on listen again.
totally agree with what people have said about being able to skip the songs.i find it terribly annoying you can only skip by 5 mins, always seem to end up cutting a chunk of stuff off when trying to avoid the music! its a shame it doesnt work on some sort of slider like youtube etc.failing that let us skip it by a min at a time!

Just open up the streams in realplayer (or a decent media player that can handle rm streams), you'll be able to fast-forward and rewind in whatever intervals you wish. If you need the URL's for the streams you'll be able to find them over at cm.net (http://www.chrismoyles.net), in the Sound Request forum.
:) I podcast and listen again, to busy to listen live. Just out of interest how does you freeview box send stuff to your pc?

I've got a SCART to RCA adapter and I have a RCA to 3.5 TRS Jack adapter; put together makes a connector that can go from the second SCART output on the back of my freeview box to the line-in input on my computer.

depends
when working its on my mini radio
when at home its either through my pc or sky tv
as for dab im not impressed with that yet as the coverage is not that good seeing as we have to wait till 2012 till when its all digital up here

Yes i am also very disapointed with DAB, the fact that it doesnt work when you walk into shops, or if you live somewhere with hills within a mile of you just makes it utterly pointless

Not only that but i think they should warn you when you buy these products about the coverage in the area for it

Car..It helps me to concentrate while I'm shouting at people..
1/3 of listeners listen to Radio 1 through their TV!
I still stick with my old skool fm radio. Living in Scotland, where youre almost always next to a great big hill, makes DAB quite inappropriate.
None of my family like Radio 1, so its got to be a compromise of local radio in the car. And well, the listen again is generally quite poor i find.

I listen on the way to work - sorry on day off sleep through it- but I am sure you will forgive. Try to listen again when I can - we cant listen at work. Its a concentration camp!
