Just in case you are unaware of this, Scott Mills will be participating in the Great North Run this year on 5th October 2008.
Please help out by sponsoring him over at UM.
The minimum sponsorship = £2.00, so you can surely help!! Send less texts today, for example, and use the cash to get Scott moving!

:-)
Glad to hear that Scott is doing the Great North Run, no doubt that'll give some good material for the show.
However - being my apparently negative self around you viv (:?) Don't you think that if anyone was interested in Scott, the show or anything remotely related they'd be going to UM anyway? and therefore would know about it? and if they listened to the show they'd hear about it too?
I'm a bit annoyed with Chris off of cm.net, I always thought he was a bit of an ass but I think this just proves it. I think this is one of the few cases where posting on all 3 sites is a good thing possibly [Viv posted this un UM CM and AI]. But that moody old so and so's locked the topic because;
Nothing to do with Moyles, and I disagree with Justgiving.
If you wish to donate to the Anthony Nolan Trust, then do it here: http://www.anthonynolan.org.uk/fundraising/Donate_Now.htm
So, his personal views? Which is wrong, otherwise he'd lock everytihng he didn't agree with? And who cares if It's got nothing to do with Moyles, Viv posted it in the "off-topic chat" section. It's off topic for a reason? Twonk.
I hope you said something to him Viv.

First of all, it wasn't posted in the 'off-topic chat' section, it was posted in General. And second, I happen to agree with Chris' views on Justgiving, being that they're a for-profit company that take a slice of any money donated through them - much better to donate directly.

They actually take a slice of the gift-aid that is recovered from tax, so if you sponsor a tenner, the charity still gets that tenner, just slightly less gift aid. Obviously people will still have issues with that, but I guess that the fact that they work with charities means that the charities would rather get money this way than not at all.

From Justgiving (http://www.justgiving.com/statements/about_giftaid_popup/default.asp): -
If your donation isn't eligible for Gift Aid, we'll deduct our 5% transaction fee from your donation.
In other words, they get their money, they just like to spin it by saying it's coming out of the Gift Aid, whether it actually is or not.
Hmm, still a good cause no doubt. But I swear I saw it in Off Topic?
Unless it was moved.
It which case I retract my earlier comment, Sorry.
I also saw this over at cm.net

I think Chris can do exactly what he likes with his site. And as it happens, he is right about Justgiving - they are only interested in making money.
Chris actually posted a link to the Anthony Nolan Trust website where people who wish to donate to this excellent cause can do so direct, without making the owners of Justgiving rich in the process.
I think Chris can do exactly what he likes with his site.
I never said he couldn't.
She didn't say you said he couldn't.

The company is entitled to make a profit, but is taking a percentage rather than a capped fee per donation the right thing to do? Did they do more to earn 5% of the £10,000 donation someone made to Richard Hammonds air rescuers than 5% of a £2 donation?
I don't wish justgiving to be publicised on my site. The option to donate directly to the charity was given in my post. I don't particularly care what the moron above, nor Viv, think of my views.

If someone refers to me as a cock for holding views based on good charitable practices, then I think calling them a moron is a particularly mild response.

I think you're missing the point postie. The Anthony Nolan Trust is a charity. Justgiving is a profit making organisation which makes its money from skimming off a percentage of donations to charities made through its site.
Whilst internet donating like this is a very effective way to maximise your donations, people should be completely aware that the charities involved would receive 5% more if your donation was made direct to them. Justgiving are very good at minimising that aspect of their operation in their publicity.

I wasn't calling you a cock Chris! I happen to agree with your views on justgiving!
If you were here lots you'd know who it was actually aimed at. Sorry if you got the wrong idea.
I accept the 'moron' badge for not making myself clear.

i prefer the old way of giving to charities and thats collection boxes plus it comes from the heart rather than getting sites pushed in ya face an make you feel like you should donate

No, I didn't say anything to him, for the following reasons:
1. When a topic gets locked, more people, I feel are likely to view it. Kind of like a tune getting banned, you want to know why. Sometimes a bit of controversy is cool. Thanx to it being locked, someone told me in a PM they would donate £30.00. I had the impression they felt sorry for me!
2. I walk a very fine line with Chris Harris as it is. Believe me.
3. Sooner or later, I plan to have my own R1 site, coming Xmas/January, so I'm kind of biding time, and I will relish being the Boss. Heh heh.
