Lets have a Mass Debate!!!

A new format this weekend, we're going to have a show based around discussion!

Charlotte from Revealed will be one of my guests to help me debte the issues, which this weekend are Celebrity and Nationality:

The questions are:

1) What Nationality are you?
2) What makes a celebrity?

Sunday night from 10pm, Radio 1!

ooo I love a good debate if im not going out I shall be tuned in and in the chat room

What Nationality am I
there is a on going dbeate over here (Northren Ireland) as to what Nationality we are classed as

many would say Irish while others sya British myslef I would class my slef as British-Irish with to me makes more sence than classing myslef as one or the other simply because Northren Ireland is part of the uk and if you go back into histroy you will find out why and how
But as i was born in Northren Ireland I would still class my self as Irish as the fact is Northren Ireland and the Republic of Ireland is on the same land( Island the same could be said for England Scotland and Wales)

so thats why I class myslef as British -Irish there are others who would class them slefs as northren Irish

what would you lot class those in Northren Ireland as?

given some of the coments i have read on other sites many English feel N.I should not be part of the uk and is a drain on the rest of the uks money and a backwards shit hole filled with killers amoung other things

I could take offence to that but i dont i find coments like that amuseing as there so blind and narrow minded and not based on facts

my random rambleings over

I will make it if I am out of my hangover - management Xmas do!!!!!!!

NI is great as you legally can have dual nationality - I have chosen to have an Irish Passport and therefore would describe myself as an Irish citizen.

Celeb - well someone in the public eye isnt far off - but then that makes the chief constable a celeb? He is in the public eye?

I will comeback with a proper answer to the celeb question - tired tonight!

I am English, and that makes me British. I'm not sure if only one of those would be defined as my nationality - and if so, which?! And what would the other one be?

As for celebrities - well, are you asking what makes a celebrity as we are presented with them these days, or what do we think OUGHT to constitute celebrity? Two very different questions, and I'm not sure which you're asking. I have to say though, in terms of debate, neither is a good question because one of them has a definitive, empirical answer, and the other is merely a matter of opinion. As such, you could have an argument about it, but I'm not sure how you could actually debate it.

:L I'm English I guess..
I'd say a Celebrity is someone with a large amount of public attention. I think there's a total different between a Celebrity, and a famous person with Talent.

Technically, I'm British, I've no connections to Wales in my family at all, none of us were born there, but I'll always consider myself Welsh when people ask. I've never remembered living in England as I moved to Wales when I was 4, I grew up there, became who I am there, and of course, I speak the language. So yeah, I'll always think of myself as Welsh, when technically speaking I've got more Malaysian in me!

And as for what makes a Celebrity, someone who's in the public eye would be a good start, I guess it's whoever the media decides is a celebrity most of the time nower days... I mean, that doesn't apply to everyone obviously, such as the Queen or the Prime Minister. But hopefully you see what I mean.
