On the 7th of March we'll be running a documentary on The Surgery about masturbating.

So many people are too embarrassed to talk about it but many have questions so this is the time to learn more about it.

lol - i worked in care for years and am now training to be a nurse, i'm not embarassed to comment on this thread :)

when i was working in a particular sector of learning disabilities sometimes the service users got shown a "how to" video - a lot of red tape surrounding that, but can't imagine what it'd be like to be getting so 'frustrated' and having no idea of what to do about it, usually the positive changes in behaviours once they'd learned how to do it were dramatic!

i remember when i was younger (about 12) and getting sex ed, and the topic of masturbating was kinda mentioned very quickly passing but nothing substantial, but because all the info we had about it was just text and no diagrams, and.. ya know how it goes.. they encourage you to go away and "discover" your own body, and... i completely got the location of the clitoris wrong :017: :eusa_shifty: LMAO! (and this was back in the days before the internet, so no easy way to find that kinda info!) still makes me giggle when i think about it:036:

I dont remember how or why i first did it. We certainly never got told about it at school. But i remember once i did it, i had to do it the next night, just to make sure i could still do it lol. I wouldnt say im embarassed to talk about it, but i certainly feel pervy if for whatever reason i need to ask someone about it, particularly members of the opposite sex lol.

Im with AJ on this one to be honest, just remember doing it when I was about 12/13... yeah and it was a case of, oh what was that, wonder will it happen tomorrow night lol!

ive been asked questions about it before, more from younger people concerned they are doing bad things or something is going to fall off!

I dont feel overly embarrassed but I was quite naive about it when I was younger

i don't remember my first successful time... but then i didn't have that great a start to the whole experience! do have a bit more patience and understanding for men now though, with the info i'd been given i couldn't even find my own pleasure spots let alone expecting someone else to be able to find them!

masturbating is just as normal as sex, and they teach us about that at school - shouldn't they be actively encouraging masturbation? no risk of STIs, pregnancy etc! why is it seen as being something sordid and dirty? though i think it's something we are slowly becoming more comfortable talking about, especially when there's an anne summers catalogue lying about! - that usually sparks some interesting conversation about various toys and how they do pretty much everything and "who needs men anymore?!" lol

lol yes it's one thing knowing "everyone does it" and being reminded that your parents and grandparents probably still do it!

Masturbation is one of the few free - and completely harmless - pleasures left in life. Everybody should.

YES. THIS IS ABOUT TO MAKE MY BEST TITLE EVER ON UNOFFICIALMILLS!! I wonder if I'll get away with it. Betcha Jono edits me out of fear....

People shouldn't be ashamed though.. It's just completely normal :037: It's a good way of getting off to sleep at night. Who needs men?!! Woo.

I've called my topic "Wank Off With Surgery"..... I can't stop laughing about it... Been laughing for the past 5 minutes.

PS: JONO LEFT MY TOPIC UNEDITED!!! WOW - 50 hits in under 30 minutes!! ha ha haaaa haaaa!!!!!

*logs back on* I'm still laughing!!

I remember my first ever time was at the end of 'Dallas' in the 80s, and Bobby Ewing had just died. I was 17 at the time... I remember I did it because I was upset that Bobby Ewing was dead. :-(

It's different at certain times of the month.... I have noticed this... more intense sometimes than others.

Wankers, the lot of you.

And proud!!!!!!!!

Just remembering the day I had sex ed, I came home and taught mum and dad all about it as i felt they could improve their performance as they only had me (1 child!)....

Apparently I was an idiot lol!

i remember my eldest step-son coming home from school (primary) one day having obviously had a sex ed lesson... he was talking about conception but couldn't remember any of the proper names- i can still remember him standing there waving his hand from side to side like a fish saying "it looks like a tadpole and it swims like this and it helps makes a baby" and me nearly dying from laughing! eventually managed to tell him to go ask his father!

i can remember asking my parents how you have sex, and i remember asking what a virgin was (both cases i remember i was quite young, the 2nd one we happened to be driving past a church called Mary the Virgin)- i have no idea what the answers were, i've evidently blocked them from memory!

but agree with Viv - going back to the topic of masturbation, it's a great way of getting to sleep at night - gets to be quite hard to do when you're heavily pregnant though and the end result feels very different.

i'm quite open about it with the hubby, but he still likes to hide away when he's having his "personal time" - unless i'm partaking of course, in which case he's more than eager to be there!

I ever, ever knew the end result was different whilst preggers.... fascinating stuff!!!

I've done it at work (in the loo)... I know that's really disgusting, but this is what I have done. :-) I'm a horny beast!!

I think a lot of females get quite uptight at boyfriends' having "personal time" (as you put it), but it's not really about them at all.

well the end result is the same, but it feels very different. i suppose coz the uterus is so much bigger... that and the challenges of even getting to completion with having a bump in the way! lol
